WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution defeated the Washington Junior Nationals by a 4-2 score on Saturday night at The Rink at Warwick.
With this win, the Revolution extend their winning streak to three games and improve to 2-0-0-0 against their EHL South division rival this season.
"This winning streak continues to bring a positive vibe in the locker room," said EHL Revolution Head Coach James Laux. "The Junior Nationals have improved a lot since the last time we played them back in September. They made some changes, got some fresh blood, and gave us all we can handle. This was a key win for us."
This Revolution victory was greeted by the welcoming of forward Myckauly Melanson to the Revolution organization and the return of defenseman Nick Schaefer from injury.
In his EHL debut Saturday night, Melanson scored a late first period goal to give the Revolution a 2-1 lead in the frame. Prior to his arrival in Warminster, Melanson played junior hockey with the Langley Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey League.
"Everyone in the Philadelphia Revolution organization is so far treating me with tremendous respect and making me feel like I'm at home," said Melanson. "What sold me here was my friendship with Riley [Egan] and how much he enjoys playing for this team. I'm giving it a try, and I'm loving it so far."
Defenseman Schaefer christened his return to the lineup with a goal midway through the second period.
"It feels really good to be back from injury," said Schaefer. "It took a while to recover from my high ankle sprain, but it feels good to get back out on the ice."
Revolution forwards Ken Tencza, Chris Connor, Remington Woods, Steve Atkinson, and Garret Quinn, and defenseman Dennis Maier are still out of the lineup due to injuries. More information on their recovery efforts will be available soon. The Junior B call ups Stanislav Khokhlov, Julian Lever, Linder Kenyon, and Josh Suboyu will remain on the roster for the rest of the weekend.
Also scoring for the Revolution were forwards Egan and Zachary England. Goaltender Jacob Caffrey earned the win in net.
"We felt like we were playing against a different Junior Nationals team tonight," said Caffrey. "Their offensive and defensive production improved a lot from last time. Right now, we are doing well and want to continue our winning ways."
Defensemen Brad Anderson and Chip DeFelice scored one power play goal each for the Junior Nationals. Goaltender Timothy Cooney received the loss in net.
The home-and-home series between the Revolution and Junior Nationals continues at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, Maryland on Sunday November 17th at 2:45 PM.
"We just need to continue to put pucks on net," said Coach Laux. "We need to continue to make smart plays, pepper their goalies with shots, and keep the puck in the offensive zone."

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution will host the Washington Junior Nationals at The Rink at Warwick tonight at 7:30 PM.
This will be the second of six meetings between the EHL South Division rivals this season.
"Washington has shown vast improvement since our first game against them," said EHL Revolution Head Coach James Laux. "We are looking to play hard nose hockey and dominate offensive zone time and shots on goal.
The last time the Revolution and Junior Nationals faced off was back on September 28th, a 7-1 Revolution victory at home. Ken Tencza registered a hat trick and Riley Egan and Nick Patullo scored two goals apiece. Goaltender Jacob Caffrey earned the win in net, stopping 24 of 25 shots on goal.
The Revolution enter tonight's game looking to extend their winning streak to three games. Their previous victory was earned on the road, a 4-3 final against the Philadelphia Junior Flyers back on November 10th.
"We got off to a slow start," said Coach Laux, "but I was happy with the effort level in the last two periods. It was good to see the team stick with the game plan despite being down early and be able to find a way to pull out a win on the road."
Philadelphia will also enter today's game with some of their key players out of the lineup. Forwards Tencza, Remington Woods, Chris Connor, Steve Atkinson, and Garret Quinn, and defenseman Dennis Maier are still inactive, according to the EHL website.
The organization has called up forwards Jeff Schaefer, Julian Lever, and Myckauly Melanson and defensemen Josh Suboyu and Linder Kenyon from the United States Premier Hockey League Junior B team.
With the Revolution's victory last week against the Junior Flyers, the Junior Nationals remain as the only EHL team without a road win this season. The Junior Nationals are still searching for their second win of the season and looking to end their 12-game losing streak.
The Revolution and Junior Nationals will play again tomorrow at The Gardens Ice House Arena in Laurel, Maryland at 2:45 PM.

This will be the third of four meeting between the two clubs this season. The season series is currently tied at one game apiece. The last time these EHL South Division rivals met was back on October 5th, a 4-3 Revolution victory at The Rink at Warwick.
"We know it is going to be a tight game," said EHL Revolution Head Coach James Laux. "We need to carve out our identity against these Junior Flyers and establish a consistent style of play that will make it difficult for our opponents to play against."
The EHL squad is looking to extend their winning streak to two games.
"Coming off a two-goal win against a first place team like the New Jersey Rockets is huge for us," said Coach Laux. "Moving forward, it is imperative that we prove to ourselves that we can play with the same intensity and competitiveness day in and day out."
The Revolution will enter this game still searching for their first road win of the year. Away from home ice, they are 0-7-1-0.
The Revolution will also enter this game without their key offensive and defensive pieces in Chris Connor, Dennis Maier, Ken Tencza, Remington Woods, and Nick Schaefer. They are still sidelined due to injuries. Their return as of Saturday afternoon is still unknown.

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution defeat the New Jersey Rockets at The Rink at Warwick by a 4-2 score.
The win ends the Revolution's four game losing streak.
"We were in desperate need of a team effort in this game," said EHL Head Coach James Laux, "and everyone on this team played a competitive 60 minutes of hockey. Moving forward, we just need to keep working hard as a team."
The Revolution offense was powered by Nick Patullo and Ryan Marker on the power play and Kyle Jennings and James Wallace at even strength. Goaltender Jacob Caffrey earned the win in net with 28 saves.
"It feels really good to get back in the winning zone," said Caffrey. "The penalty shot in the last game against the Rockets was a killer, but everyone played great from top to bottom to get even."
Jennings first goal of the season was scored from a shot 100 feet away at center ice at 8:43 of the first period.
"It feels good to get the puck on net and get my first of the year," said Jennings. "When I shot it from the red line, my intent was to get the offense going. I couldn't believe it myself when I saw the puck hit off the goalie's glove and go past him."
The Revolution pick up the victory despite having five key roster players out due to injury. Ken Tencza, Remington Woods, Chris Connor, Nick Schaefer, and Dennis Maier are still day-to-day with their respected injuries.
"Once back," said Coach Laux, "we need to use the return of these guys as a bonus and not as a crutch for a reason to lose. Right now, we are focused on helping these guys recover and get back on the ice."
Scoring for the Rockets were Troy Conzo and Nolan Aibel. Goaltender Randy Gorda received the loss in net, stopping 43 of 47 shots.
The Revolution improve to 4-12-1 and trail the division-leading Rockets by 11 points. Their next game will be on Sunday November 10th on the road against the Philadelphia Junior Flyers at 11:00 AM. Fans can stream the game live on FastHockey.com.

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution (3-12-1-0) will host the New Jersey Rockets (9-6-0-0) at The Rink at Warwick on Sunday November 3rd at 11:00 AM.
This will be the second of four contests between the EHL South division rivals this season. The Revolution trail the season series 0-1-0-0 from the 3-1 loss back on October 17th.
"We have taken the lessons from our previous loss to the Rockets and used them to our advantage at our practices this week," said EHL Revolution Head Coach James Laux. "Our goal is to to simplify our game in a way that will lead us to wins."
The Revolution are looking to snap a four-game losing streak dating back to October 20th's loss against the Northern Cyclones. During this losing streak, the team has been outscored by a 23-7 margin.
"Last weekend's games against the [Connecticut] Oilers and [Hartford] Junior Wolfpack alone were tough for our team," said Coach Laux. "In both of these games, there were significant letdowns in the third period. We need to be able to compete at a high level for all three periods of a game. Over the past few weeks, we've played a lot of games within a short time frame. I am excited to see our team focus all of their energy into 60 minutes this Sunday."
The EHL Revs losing streak has also been accompanied by injuries to some of their top players. Forward Nick Patullo and defenseman Nick Schaefer have missed significant time due to their respected injuries and will be game-time decisions based on trainer examinations.
The United States Premier Hockey League Empire Revolution squad will also be at The Rink over the weekend, taking on the Brewster Bulldogs on Saturday at 7:30 PM. Both EHL and USPHL Empire games will be streamed live on FastHockey.com.

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League weekend ends with the Philadelphia Revolution picking up two points in the standings.
The team secured a win against the Boston Junior Rangers and lost two critical games to the Northern Cyclones and New Jersey Rockets.
Earlier today, the Revolution fell to the Cyclones at home by a 5-1 score. Ryan Marker scored the lone goal for his team.
"I thought it was a hard-working game," said EHL Head Coach James Laux. "For the first two periods, they showed a great work ethic. But in the third period, we played like we were not in the right place and tried to force plays to happen that led to turnovers and scoring chances for the Cyclones. They were able to capitalize on our mistakes."
Revolution Goaltender Hunter Tetrault received the loss in net. Despite the loss, he stopped 40 of 45 shots against.
"I thought Tetrault stepped up and did well in net," said Revolution Goaltender Jacob Caffrey. "He had a slow start, but then he stepped up in the second and third periods and showed that he is capable of handling the work in net when he needs to."
Forward Connor Callow scored twice and Riley Christensen, Manny Billiones, and Kevin Valenti scored one goal apiece for the Cyclones. Evan Morelli earned the win in net stopping 23 of 24 shots on goal.
Prior to today's game, Caffrey and Revolution defenseman Mikko Kivinen received two-game suspensions from the physical incident that ensued after the final buzzer Saturday night in the Revolution's 4-3 win over the Junior Rangers.
"After the play," said Caffrey, "I saw one of my guys getting grabbed by someone from the opposing team. I went in to defend my teammate. I regret it now because of the suspension, but hockey is a physical game and you need to be there to help your guys out in any situation."
The coaching staff will be working on a temporary game strategy until their top net minder and defenseman are able to return to the lineup.
"The intention of Caffrey and Kivinen during the altercation was to protect their teammates," said Coach Laux. "I will not fault them for that, but we will accept the punishment of being without them until they return."
Before the game-ending incident, Kivinen scored his first goal of the year against the Junior Rangers and Caffrey earned the win in net with 39 saves. Marker, Josh Suboyu, and Zachary England also scored for the Revolution during Saturday's contest.
Scoring for the Junior Rangers were forwards Tyler Theodoulou twice and Drew Dawson. Goaltender Tyler Fay received the loss.
The Revolution improve to 3-5-0-0 as the home team this season. They are currently 3-4-0-0 at The Rink at Warwick and 0-1-0-0 on neutral ice.
Back on Thursday night, Remington Woods scored the lone goal in a 3-1 road loss to the New Jersey Rockets.
"The Rockets game was one of those tight games," said Coach Laux. "It could've gone either way, but we allowed them to have a couple of odd-man rushes and capitalize on easy scoring opportunities."
The Revolution are one of three teams in the EHL without a road win this season. They are currently 0-4-1-0 away from Warminster.
Looking forward, a positive coming out of this weekend's EHL action is the return of Marker to the Junior A roster. Since his return from the United States Premier Hockey League on Thursday, Marker scored twice and assisted on two shots.
"It feels good to be back in the lineup," said Marker. "I want to continue to progress in my development and keep putting points up on the board."
The Revolution fall to 3-9-1-0 on the season. Their next game is on Wednesday October 23 on the road against the Philadelphia Little Flyers at 7:00 PM. The game can be viewed online at FastHockey.com.

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution will be playing three games in the next four days in one of the most important weekends of the season.
Tonight, the Revolution will head up to northern New Jersey to take on the New Jersey Rockets at 7:00PM. Following tonight's game, the Revolution will head back to The Rink at Warwick to take on the Boston Junior Rangers on Saturday the 19th at 7:30PM and the Northern Cyclones on Sunday the 20th at 11:00AM.
"The Rockets are a strong team and are at the top of our division for good reasons," said EHL Head Coach James Laux. "We will be looking to play tight defensively and a more disciplined game against them. In order to be successful against the Junior Rangers and Cyclones, we need to be physical and take pride in defending our net."
The Revolution are looking to end their current three-game losing streak dating back to their October 6th loss against the Valley Junior Warriors. During this past weekend's EHL Columbus Day Showcase in Hudson, New Hampshire, the club lost both of their contests against the Cyclones and New Hampshire Junior Monarchs by a combined 12-2 score.
"The coaching staff and management were disappointed in the performance of the team during the Columbus Day showcase," said Coach Laux. "We have made adjustments in our practice plans to prepare for the upcoming three-game weekend and enhance our game."
Forward Ryan Marker has been called back up to the Junior A squad after a short stint with the organization's United States Premier Hockey League Empire team. In two games, he registered four goals and an assist. Defenseman Anthony Carbone will remain with the squad and will not be sent back down to the Junior B level.
"Marker had a very productive weekend," said Coach Laux. "We expect his point production to carry over to the A level. Carbone has brought a steady and physical presence in our defensive core, and we are hoping his defensive presence will remain consistent over the next few days."
