WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League weekend ends with the Philadelphia Revolution picking up two points in the standings.
The team secured a win against the Boston Junior Rangers and lost two critical games to the Northern Cyclones and New Jersey Rockets.
Earlier today, the Revolution fell to the Cyclones at home by a 5-1 score. Ryan Marker scored the lone goal for his team.
"I thought it was a hard-working game," said EHL Head Coach James Laux. "For the first two periods, they showed a great work ethic. But in the third period, we played like we were not in the right place and tried to force plays to happen that led to turnovers and scoring chances for the Cyclones. They were able to capitalize on our mistakes."
Revolution Goaltender Hunter Tetrault received the loss in net. Despite the loss, he stopped 40 of 45 shots against.
"I thought Tetrault stepped up and did well in net," said Revolution Goaltender Jacob Caffrey. "He had a slow start, but then he stepped up in the second and third periods and showed that he is capable of handling the work in net when he needs to."
Forward Connor Callow scored twice and Riley Christensen, Manny Billiones, and Kevin Valenti scored one goal apiece for the Cyclones. Evan Morelli earned the win in net stopping 23 of 24 shots on goal.
Prior to today's game, Caffrey and Revolution defenseman Mikko Kivinen received two-game suspensions from the physical incident that ensued after the final buzzer Saturday night in the Revolution's 4-3 win over the Junior Rangers.
"After the play," said Caffrey, "I saw one of my guys getting grabbed by someone from the opposing team. I went in to defend my teammate. I regret it now because of the suspension, but hockey is a physical game and you need to be there to help your guys out in any situation."
The coaching staff will be working on a temporary game strategy until their top net minder and defenseman are able to return to the lineup.
"The intention of Caffrey and Kivinen during the altercation was to protect their teammates," said Coach Laux. "I will not fault them for that, but we will accept the punishment of being without them until they return."
Before the game-ending incident, Kivinen scored his first goal of the year against the Junior Rangers and Caffrey earned the win in net with 39 saves. Marker, Josh Suboyu, and Zachary England also scored for the Revolution during Saturday's contest.
Scoring for the Junior Rangers were forwards Tyler Theodoulou twice and Drew Dawson. Goaltender Tyler Fay received the loss.
The Revolution improve to 3-5-0-0 as the home team this season. They are currently 3-4-0-0 at The Rink at Warwick and 0-1-0-0 on neutral ice.
Back on Thursday night, Remington Woods scored the lone goal in a 3-1 road loss to the New Jersey Rockets.
"The Rockets game was one of those tight games," said Coach Laux. "It could've gone either way, but we allowed them to have a couple of odd-man rushes and capitalize on easy scoring opportunities."
The Revolution are one of three teams in the EHL without a road win this season. They are currently 0-4-1-0 away from Warminster.
Looking forward, a positive coming out of this weekend's EHL action is the return of Marker to the Junior A roster. Since his return from the United States Premier Hockey League on Thursday, Marker scored twice and assisted on two shots.
"It feels good to be back in the lineup," said Marker. "I want to continue to progress in my development and keep putting points up on the board."
The Revolution fall to 3-9-1-0 on the season. Their next game is on Wednesday October 23 on the road against the Philadelphia Little Flyers at 7:00 PM. The game can be viewed online at FastHockey.com.

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution will be playing three games in the next four days in one of the most important weekends of the season.
Tonight, the Revolution will head up to northern New Jersey to take on the New Jersey Rockets at 7:00PM. Following tonight's game, the Revolution will head back to The Rink at Warwick to take on the Boston Junior Rangers on Saturday the 19th at 7:30PM and the Northern Cyclones on Sunday the 20th at 11:00AM.
"The Rockets are a strong team and are at the top of our division for good reasons," said EHL Head Coach James Laux. "We will be looking to play tight defensively and a more disciplined game against them. In order to be successful against the Junior Rangers and Cyclones, we need to be physical and take pride in defending our net."
The Revolution are looking to end their current three-game losing streak dating back to their October 6th loss against the Valley Junior Warriors. During this past weekend's EHL Columbus Day Showcase in Hudson, New Hampshire, the club lost both of their contests against the Cyclones and New Hampshire Junior Monarchs by a combined 12-2 score.
"The coaching staff and management were disappointed in the performance of the team during the Columbus Day showcase," said Coach Laux. "We have made adjustments in our practice plans to prepare for the upcoming three-game weekend and enhance our game."
Forward Ryan Marker has been called back up to the Junior A squad after a short stint with the organization's United States Premier Hockey League Empire team. In two games, he registered four goals and an assist. Defenseman Anthony Carbone will remain with the squad and will not be sent back down to the Junior B level.
"Marker had a very productive weekend," said Coach Laux. "We expect his point production to carry over to the A level. Carbone has brought a steady and physical presence in our defensive core, and we are hoping his defensive presence will remain consistent over the next few days."

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution (2-5-1-0) will travel to Hudson, New Hampshire to take on the Northern Cyclones (3-1-0-0) Sunday morning at 9:20 AM.
This will be the first of two meetings between the two clubs this season.
"Since Sunday," said EHL Revolution Head Coach James Laux, "we have focused more on our forechecking in an attempt to create more time spent in the offensive zone. The Northern Cyclones too are known for their strong power play, and we need to make sure we stop them from shooting the puck at the blue line."
The Revolution will be without forward Chris Connor and defenseman Mikko Kivinen. The two will remain on the injured reserve after the minor injuries they incurred over last weekend's games. The organization has called up forward Jeff Schaefer and defenseman Anthony Carbone from the United States Premier Hockey League Empire team.
"Schaefer will provide more speed and energy at the wing," said Coach Laux, "and Carbone will add size, stability, and physical play at the blue line and in the defensive zone."

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution fell to the Valley Junior Warriors by a 4-3 score.
The Revolution rallied at two different points in the game to tie the score with two goals from Ken Tencza and one from Zachary England. But, a Shane Tracy goal at 15:20 of the third period sealed the win for the visiting club.
"It
was a hard-fought game on both sides," said EHL Revolution Head Coach
James Laux. "Having said that, we have an issue of not knowing what to expect when
we and the opposition have the puck. We got knocked around early, and that's what made them capitalize on easy goals."
Goaltender Jacob Caffrey received the loss in net, stopping 39 of 43 shots on goal.
Despite the loss, the Revolution's special teams units played strong. After going 0-for-10 on the man advantage in Friday night's loss to the New Jersey Titans, the Revolution went 2-for-4 today and combined for four power play goals in nine opportunities in this weekend's two-game home stand.
The penalty killing unit continued to stay consistently strong, going 5-for-5 in today's contest. The Revolution's success rate on the man disadvantage is now at 88.0 percent, good for fifth overall in the league.
Scoring for the Junior Warriors were forwards Tracy twice and Van Sullivan and Troy Sutherland with one goal apiece. Goaltender Matt Penta earned his first win of the season in net, stopping 30 of 33 shots against.
The EHL squad's next game is on Sunday October 13 on the roadnagainst the Northern Cyclones at 9:20 AM. Fans can stream the game live on FastHockey.com.
"It's going to be important for us to figure out what we are going to do the next time we play on the ice," said Coach Laux. "How we play in the first five minutes of the game cannot be different from how we play in the second and third periods."

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution defeated the Philadelphia Junior Flyers by a 4-3 score.
The victory gives the Revolution their second win of the season. The team also snaps a two-game losing streak and improves to 1-1-0-0 against their in-market rival.
"I thought for the first time this season the team showed an intensity needed to compete at this level," said Revolution Head Coach James Laux. "Our goaltending was superb, our power play performed better, and our penalty kill continued to stay strong."
Revolution captain Riley Egan led his team in scoring with two goals. Also scoring for the club were forward Remington Woods and defenseman Ryan O'Malley.
"Everyone stuck with the team's system," said Egan. "It shows when everyone is doing the little things right sticking to the game plan."
Forwards Ken Tencza, Chris Connor, and Ryan Marker and defensemen Dennis Maier, Nick Schaefer, and Steve Mallory assisted on the Revolution goals.
"The offense really bought into our system and the defense was always there anchoring the team," said O'Malley. "Our leaders came to play and our young guys really stepped up."
Past the midway point of the second period, Egan and O'Malley scored in a 16-second span.
Goaltender Jacob Caffrey earned the win net, stopping 29 of 32 shots. Caffrey got the go ahead to play in tonight's game after dealing with concussion-like symptoms this past week.
"It feels really good bouncing back physically," said Caffrey. "Everyone stepped up to help me in net, and some of the saves I made were quite memorable. Some of these guys on the Junior Flyers like to make the first move on the goalie, and knowing this, I was able to stop some really critical shots on goal that could've changed the momentum of this game."
The Revolution special teams were key factors in tonight's victory. The power play unit went 2-for-5 and the penalty kill went 3-for-4.
"After struggling for a bit on the power play," said Coach Laux, "it is good to see the team get pucks in the net with the man advantage. Our penalty kill has been good, and it continues to stay good."
Scoring for the Junior Flyers were forwards Jonathan Ruiz and Nick Idi and defenseman Joe Heffernan. Goaltender Billy Wager received the loss, stopping 24 of 28 shots on net.
The Revolution will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they square off against the Valley Junior Warriors at The Rink at Warwick at 1:45 PM. Fans can stream the game live on FastHockey.com.
"We are looking for more of the same game play in tomorrow's game against Valley," said Coach Laux. "I still wanna see a lot of hard work on the ice, where the defense continues to cut down on the opposition's high quality scoring chances and the offense continues to keep the puck in the attacking zone."

WARMINSTER, PA - The Eastern Hockey League Philadelphia Revolution (1-4-1-0) will host the Philadelphia Junior Flyers (1-1-0-0) at The Rink at Warwick tonight at 7:00 PM.
This will the second of four meetings between the two clubs this season. The Revolution fell in the first contest by a 4-3 score at home back on September 29.
"I feel that today's game will come down to offensive zone possession," said EHL Head Coach James Laux. "We as a team need to continue to capitalize on high quality scoring opportunities whenever we get the puck into the attacking zone."
Last night, the Revolution lost to the New Jersey Titans by a 5-1 score. Team captain Riley Egan scored the lone goal in the loss.
"Last night's loss to the Titans was an unacceptable perfomance put forth by our team," said Coach Laux. "While the Titans played well, we did not compete at an acceptable level, and were unable to execute simple plays. We cannot continue to make these mistakes, especially in tonight's game."
Revolution goaltender Jacob Caffrey will be a game-time decision for tonight's contest. After last week's game against the Junior Flyers, he experienced concussion-like symptoms.
"Caffrey has worked out and skated recently without showing any symptoms," said Coach Laux. "He has an impact test later today to see when he can get back out on the ice. Right now, we have Hunter Tetreault and have called up Jared Burch from our B-team to play in net."
Fans can get all of tonight's EHL action exclusively on FastHockey.com or live at The Rink at Warwick, 1621 Mearns Road in Warminster, Pennsylvania.
The Revolution's United States Premier Hockey League (Empire) and Metropolitan Junior Hockey League teams are also in action tonight. The Empire Revolution will host the New York Apple Core at The Rink at Warwick at 7:30 PM in the second rink and the MJHL Revolution will travel to West Chester, Pennsylvania to take on the MJHL Junior Flyers at 8:00 PM. Fans can also stream these games live online at FastHockey.com.
